Hannah Sleep Study

The evening of May 4th Hannah and I got to have a special "sleep-over at the doctors." I took her up to Primary Children's hospital for a sleep study. We had been talking about it for 2 months so Hannah was as prepared as she could be. She was very brave and did really well. It took about an hour to get her all hooked up. As the picture shows she had a couple dozen electrode discs hooked up to her body. Probably half or more on her head. You can see all of the wires here and they weren't done yet. She also had 2 straps around her mid section.
Here she is as a finished product. You would never guess she was hooked up to so many wires. She got to wear a special "hat" that kept all of the wires neatly together and out of the way. They had to cut holes for her ears so that she would be able to put her rag on her ears. That was a first for them to have to cut holes for the ears. Hannah gave them a pretty good sampling of her sleep. The first time she woke up it was one of her bad ones and it took over 30 min. to get her to stop screaming and crying and to a point she could go back to sleep. I would love some answers for that one!
We made it! The next morning Hannah got all un-hooked and they gave her a special hat to wear home. It actually covers all of the grease and yucky stuff that was in her hair so that it didn't get all over her car seat. She also got a turtle beanie baby that she loved getting. The worst part of the experience was having to clean her up after we got home. It took me 45 minutes in the bath to clean all of the grease and yucky stuff off of her. I had to wash her hair with dish soap and then my shampoo and conditioner. I didn't even get it all out the first time through. All of her hair was a disadvantage in this case. We survived though and hopefully we can get some answers in a few weeks! Posted by Picasa

Sounds like she did really well! I will be interested to see what happens, because your description sounds like some kind of night terror. Hope this helps you guys figure out some solutions!

It sure made for cute pictures, and it sounds like Hannah did awfully well with the whole thing which says volumes for the good preparation her parent's gave her. No matter what the answers, you can be pleased that you have done all you could to deal with such a challenge. Mom K ( look I even remembered to sign my name this time.)

Props to all involved for making it through! What a great time it is to be alive when we have so much technology and knowledge. I can't help but think that all of the time, epsecially in light of my appendix experience 6 months ago. Less than 100 years ago that would have killed me whereas today it's basically an outpatient surgery.

Hopefully they will be able to pin point what is going on and provide the right solution!
