That's my girl!

The other day Sherry was getting ready to put Spencer down for a nap. In preparation, she asked Hannah if she wanted her to put in a video to watch while Sherry went in with Spencer. Hannah, who was watching television at the time, said "No, I will just finish watching this show." What was she watching? Hometime, a home improvement show on PBS. I was so proud! Posted by Picasa

That's my boy!

Spencer has picked up a new phrase (which brings his total to about two phrases!) lately. He often says "thank-you" after you give him something. We find it pretty cute and are glad his is picking up good things from us.

Sarah is born!

Kevin and Malinda had their baby last night about 10pm. Sarah Camille was 19.5 inches and a whopping 7lb. 7oz. (which is big for Malinda but tiny to me seeing that Spencer was 1.5lb bigger when he was born!). We got to go see them at the hospital today. She was absolutely beautiful. Hannah wanted to hold her again and again. Spencer really didn't care much. He was just interested in running all over the place as ususal. We are very excited for them. Congratulations!!!!

Hannahisms

Hannah is always saying the funniest things. I wish I could remember them all. We get some good laughs around here from her. Here are a couple:

Hannah: "Mom, could you keep your hands to yourself while I tickle you?"

Mom: "Hannah, do you need to go to the bathroom?" (as she is holding herself and dancing)
Hannah: "No. I just dripped a little."

Hannah's Surgery

I am a bit slow on blogging this but it has been quite a week for us. Hannah had surgery to remove her tonsils and adenoids on June 27th. We had to be up at Primary Children's by 6:30am so we had an early start to our day. I was actually quite relieved that we got to go in first thing and not have to wait around all day. Hannah was quite brave and didn't even cry when I left her and she went to the operating room. Her surgery was about 8am and it literally only took 30 min. The surgery went really well. Her tonsils weren't unusually large but her adenoids basically filled the entire cavity. The hard part was the post surgery. This was the part I had been most concerned about prior to her surgery. Hannah was screaming when I got back to see her. It is typical for the kids to be upset, but Hannah was really upset. The nurse was pretty sure she was in a lot of pain too. Her blood pressure was really high as was her heart rate and she would not calm down. They had given Hannah 4 doses of the morphine by the time I got back to her and she was still screaming. Hannah kept telling me her throat hurt really bad. The nurse finally called the anesthesiologist and they gave Hannah a dose of demoral. She was still upset but she would calm down some between her screaming streaks and her blood pressure started to come down. Once we got moved to the recovery room we got a movie started and I was able to get her to calm down and sleep. She was fine until her vitals needed to be checked or she was bugged in some way. She wouldn't eat a popsicle or slushy. I was surprised. She would at least drink the apple juice they gave her. We were home by 11:30am. We have had a pretty uneventful rest of the week. We didn't go anywhere hardly and have tried to take it as easy as we can. Hannah basically didn't eat for two days and then she has slowly started to get her appetite back. She still isn't back to her full appetite. She is really up and down all day. One minute she is fine and the next she is all upset. Several times a day she will "freak out". I don't know what the problem is but she gets really upset and just screams. You ask her what is wrong and she says she doesn't know. All you can do is hold her and she eventually calms down. It's great fun. They say that the kids are grumpy and irritable for a few weeks after surgery. Hannah is typically grumpy anyways so it just magnifies everything. Nights have been pretty rough. The first two nights I slept on the couch with Hannah. The third night she slept in my bed and then the last two nights she has slept in her own bed but she is waking up a lot. I expected the first couple of nights to be bad but it is dragging out longer and I'm not sure what to do about it. It's hard to know what to do. I'm hoping it works itself out sooner then later. It's just going to take time for Hannah to recoop. We are glad to have this behind us and hope it's the start to no more sleep problems once she is fully recovered.

Here is Hannah all decked out in her hospital PJ"s.

Here is Hannah right before she went to the operating room. She got to ride in the wagon which is as fun as they could probably make it. Posted by Picasa

Memorial Day

I realize this is way old but I just haven't been able to blog the last month and wanted to post a few things anyways. Kevin and Charisse were in town and spent Memorial Day with us. We really enjoyed spending the day with them. We went hiking up one of the canyons in Pleasant Grove.

Hannah insisted on having a picture taken on this rock. She also insisted on wearing her sweatshirt even though it was pretty warm outside.

Hannah really liked having Kevin and Charisse visit. She wanted to be everywhere they were and doing what they were doing. I thought this picture was cute of her walking with them toward the end of the hike. If only she could have walked the entire hike by herself and not had to be packed in the backpack. One day maybe...! Posted by Picasa

Tantrums

Spencer has mastered the art of tantrums and he's only one!! He stomps his feet, hits anything in his reach, flings himself around and hollars as loud as he can. It's funny to watch him really but I am starting to really dislike going to public places with him. I hope this isn't a foreshadowing of something worse to come when he's two!
