Oregon Trip: Trunk or treat

The monday night before we came home, the Beans had their ward Halloween party/trunk or treat. We got to join them and had a great pot luck dinner, games, and trunk or treat. Debbi even got costumes together for Hannah and Spencer which were perfect. The kids had a lot of fun especially getting all of the candy. It turned out to be extra great for us because our ward did not do a trunk or treat so it was pretty much their trick or treating for this year.

Spencer had to try out Tanner's groovy glasses. Looks great especially with the binky!
Do they all look great or what?!
Watch our or he will ROAR!
Aunt Jenn even joined us for a little while. Posted by Picasa

Oregon Trip: Pumpkin Carving

The Beans came down to Springfield the last weekend we were there. The cousins had great fun together and we all did some pumpkin carving. It was quite a job to get all of the pumpkins carved but everyone had fun and we didn't make too big of a mess!

Chad is the master pumpkin carver in our family. He helped Hannah carve her pumpkin that we got from the pumpkin patch.
Spencer participated by finding and nibbling on the pieces cut from the pumpkins. Yucky if you ask me. Didn't bother him much though.
We had quite the assortment of pumpkins by the time we were done. All unique and one of a kind! Posted by Picasa

Oregon Trip: More Wildlife Safari

This baby zebra was only a few weeks old.
Hippos in case you can't tell. I like the Hippos.

Oregon Trip: Wildlife Safri

We also spent a day at Wildlife Safari. This was also really fun for us. It was amazing to see up close so many different kinds of animals all at the same place in a pretty natural environment instead of a zoo. We drove through the park two times plus spent time at the kids village where we took the train ride (the kids loved this). There was a lot to take in and we could have spent more time there. We are really glad we went.

Oregon Trip: Coast

We spent a day on the coast after Chad came out. Mom and Dad Kohler came with us. We were blessed with great weather especially for the coast. We really had a great time playing in the sand, chasing waves, hiking to the light house and enjoying the beautiful views. I love the coast!

Hannah especially enjoyed running in the waves. It was pretty cold but well worth the fun. Hannah fell once and was completely soaked. I had planned ahead and had brought a change of clothes for the kids. If only I had brought a change of clothes for me. I just had to live with wet and cold jeans for the remainder of the day.

Oregon Trip: Grandpa

Spencer is definitely a Grandpa's boy. I was more than happy to have help with Spencer. It was really cute to watch the two together.

Spencer very much enjoyed taking naps with Grandpa in the recliner! I think Grandpa enjoyed the excuse for a little nap too!
Of course Spencer loved reading with Grandpa.
Spencer liked putting Grandpa's shoes on every chance he got.
Spencer was even Grandpa's helper. It's hard to tell in this picture but Spencer is wearing one of Grandpa's sweatshirts. The sleeves are rolled up a bunch and if Spencer was standing his shoes would be covered by the sweatshirt. He went outside to help Grandpa and needed to be kept warm. Posted by Picasa

Oregon Trip: School playground/animals

Mom and Dad Kohler live just down from an elementary school. We took advantage of that and went over to the playground quite often. It was a good outlet for the kids. Jaylyn and Maggie even came with us a few times. Just next door to the playground there is land fenced in with goats, cows, and horses. The kids loved this. I could hardly keep Spencer away.

Hannah always loves the slides.
Maggie even joined the kids on the slides!
Hannah loved to feed the goats grass. As soon as we walked over to the fence, all of the animals would walk over. Spencer was in heaven!
Spencer had no fear of just sticking his hand through the fence. It made me nervous though! Posted by Picasa

Oregon Trip: Pumpkin Patch

We went to a pumpkin patch and picked out some pumpkins to carve for Halloween. That was my first time going to a pumpkin patch and it was quite impressive to see so many pumpkins. There was also a little play area and some farm animals which the kids enjoyed.

Getting ready for our ride out to the pumpkin patch.
What a sight! Pumpkins, pumkins, and more pumpkins! Perfect seat for Hannah.
Spencer wasn't so sure about the pumpkins. He had a hard time trying to walk through all the vines and pumpkins. He fell a few times. Jaylyn helped us pick out a great pumpkin! Posted by Picasa

Oregon Trip: Cousins

Hannah and Spencer had such fun running around and playing with their cousins Tanner, Jarae, and Keaton. We wish we lived closer so we could see each other more often!

Everyone needs a dog pile every once in a while.
Hannah and Keaton really had fun together. They didn't always agree (especially on movies) but I don't think they ever really fought. I think they found every single pillow and blanket in the whole house and put it in the living room.
Jarae was so cute with Spencer and Hannah! They loved being with her.
This is what Spencer and Tanner did while we made cookies! Posted by Picasa

Oregon Trip: Children's Museum

We went to the Children's Museum while we were in Portland with the Beans. This was way fun! Of course I loved it because it was for kids so the kids could touch everything and it didn't matter. That was wonderful!!!

This was the dig pit. I would love to have a room like this in my basement. It was so cool! It was hard yet kindof soft rubbery stuff. Dig to your hearts content without the mess of dirt. The kids loved this room and I think we spent the most time here.
Watch out for this Ambulance screaming down the road!

Spencer's most favorite area was the water area. I am not surprised! Posted by Picasa

Oregon Trip: Cookie Making

At the beans we made Halloween sugar cookies for family home evening. It was great fun all around. Hannah and Keaton helped Debbi and I put the dough together ahead of time. They loved helping. Hannah was coated in flour (all over) by the time we were done of course.

The cute helpers!

This is serious business.

While we were cutting out cookies, Hannah grabbed all of the scraps and put them in a big ball and then promptly stuffed it in her mouth. Can you tell how much dough is in her mouth?!! I about died. You had better close your eyes on this one Grandma Kohler.

Hannah and Keaton were very pleased with their cookies by the time they cut them out, cooked them, and then iced them all by themselves. Of course their most favorite part was eating the cookies. My favorite part too!
